Geography

Here is the long-term overview for Geography at Redwood this year. It outlines what the children of all year groups will be learning and how.

Every Friday. Mrs Kirk and the team take the children out around the school site, seeing what they can find. Here is the display of their findings.

In Reception FS2, Mrs Priestley took her Pufflings for a walk in Redwood Park. They looked at the season changing on the trees and collected different types and sizes of leaves.

In Year 1, the children have been drawing maps of our local area. There are so many trees in Sinfin!!

In Year 2, Mrs Holmes' Goldfinches have been learning about maps. Here is their Working Wall Display. They used the story of The Jolly Postman to follow his movements throughout the story and learn about North, East, South & West!

In Year 3, Mr Bullock's class have been learning about The Stone Age, particularly the geography side of that era. Here you can see the wonderful display the children have created in their classroom. Lovely work, Toucans!

In Year 4, the children have been describing and understanding the key aspects of rivers. Here is a fabulous piece of work containing all the technical vocabulary you need!

Volcanoes & Earthquakes in Year 5

When Mr Wild & Mrs Holmes (with some Redwood children) visited China some years ago, they were shown how the children have regular earthquake practices, much like our fire drills. As Year 5 are learning about VOLCANOES & EARTHQUAKES, the Shearwaters class had their own earthquake drill. Here is the result!
