A typical lesson at our school
- Teaching for memory - at the start of a lesson the children will practice a skill that has been taught previously, to encourage a secure understanding and mathematical fluency.
- Lessons include small, coherent steps to success that all children can follow and use to be successful.
- Using manipulatives (e.g. the bar and counters) as well as visual representations (e.g. drawing bars and counters) to create a deep understanding of a topic.
- Making links to the quickest, abstract methods (in this case the link between fractions and division).
What is Times Tables Rock Stars? Parents and Carers Guide
In either paper form or online, Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice. This format has very successfully boosted times tables recall speed for hundreds of thousands of pupils over the last 8 years in over 16,000 schools - both primary and secondary - worldwide.

In FS2 and KS1, we use NumBots to support our core understanding of maths from an early age. NumBots is well aligned with our maths scheme, White Rose maths. The aim of NumBots is to help children reach a level of mathematical fluency and problem solving. NumBots provides children with access to regular practise both at home and in the classroom.
