  • Relationship and Sex Education Guidance

At Redwood Primary School, we believe that Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) is an essential part of every child's education. Through our RSHE curriculum, children develop the knowledge, skills and values they need to stay healthy, safe and prepared for life in modern Britain.

In primary school, the statutory curriculum focuses on Relationships Education and Health Education, helping children to build positive, respectful relationships, understand how to look after their physical and mental wellbeing, recognise and manage risks and know where to seek help if they need it. Learning is carefully planned to be age-appropriate, inclusive and responsive to the needs of our pupils.

Our RSHE curriculum at Redwood also supports children to develop resilience, confidence and empathy. We encourage pupils to value themselves and others, celebrate diversity, communicate respectfully and make informed choices both online and offline. These important life skills underpin our wider curriculum and contribute to our school's commitment to developing happy, healthy and responsible citizens.

We work in partnership with parents and carers, recognising that they are children's first educators. Our RSHE curriculum complements the learning that takes place at home and reflects the statutory guidance from the Department for Education (2026), ensuring that every child receives high-quality, evidence-informed education that supports both their personal development and their safety.
