At Redwood, we recognise that PSHE extends beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, we take part in a range of whole-school events and national awareness days, including Comic Relief (Red Nose Day), Children in Need, Show Racism the Red Card, Anti-Bullying Week, Mental Health Awareness Week and other charity and community events. These opportunities encourage our pupils to think about the wider world, develop empathy and compassion, and understand how they can make a positive difference to the lives of others.
By participating in fundraising activities, themed learning days and whole-school discussions, our children learn the importance of kindness, equality, respect and helping those in need. Together, we raise money for worthwhile causes, celebrate diversity and stand against discrimination, helping pupils understand the impact that collective action can have within our local, national and global communities.
These events provide meaningful opportunities to promote the British Values of democracy, individual liberty, the rule of law, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Through taking part, children learn to value diversity, respect different viewpoints, contribute positively to their community and develop into responsible, caring citizens who are ready for life beyond primary school.
