  • Floor Books

At Redwood, every class uses a PSHE Floor Book to capture and celebrate children's learning throughout the year. Floor Books provide a meaningful record of each class's discussions, reflections, ideas and achievements, placing pupil voice at the heart of our PSHE curriculum. Every child contributes to the Floor Book during lessons, ensuring that all pupils have the opportunity to share their thoughts, opinions and learning in a supportive environment.

The outcomes recorded in our Floor Books vary depending on the lesson and learning objective. They may include photographs, drawings, written reflections, group work, speech bubbles, mind maps, role-play responses or class discussions. Through adaptive teaching, all children are able to access the learning and contribute in ways that suit their individual needs and abilities, ensuring that a wide range of learning is represented.

As children progress through the school, they take increasing ownership of their Floor Books. Older pupils are encouraged to plan, organise and present their learning more independently, reflecting their growing confidence and understanding. Where appropriate, links to the British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance are identified within the pages, helping children make meaningful connections between their PSHE learning and life in modern Britain.
