  • Safe Squad

At Redwood, we have established a dedicated group of pupil ambassadors who actively promote safety within the school environment. These children contribute to both physical and environmental safety initiatives while also disseminating important messages, such as the NSPCC Pants Rule, Road Safety, and Water and Rail Safety.

Throughout the year, members of the Safe Squad have taken an active role in delivering key safeguarding messages to their peers. They have confidently led and supported assemblies on important topics including Water Safety, Road Safety and the NSPCC PANTS campaign, helping children understand how to keep themselves safe both in and out of school.

The squad have also organised and promoted a range of competitions and awareness campaigns, including PANTS reminder competitions, encouraging pupils to engage with safeguarding messages in creative and memorable ways. Their work helps ensure that important safety information is regularly revisited and understood by all children.

Beyond assemblies and competitions, the Safe Squad contributes to wider school improvement. Members have helped to promote new safeguarding signage around the school, ensuring that children know where to find support and who they can talk to if they have worries or concerns. They regularly liaise with the Site Manager to report any issues that may affect the safety of the school environment, helping to maintain a safe and welcoming setting for everyone.

The Safe Squad also represents the voice of pupils in important decision-making processes. Children have supported the recruitment of new staff by taking part in interview activities, providing valuable pupil perspectives and helping to ensure that safeguarding remains a priority when welcoming new members of our school community.

Through their leadership, responsibility and commitment, the Safe Squad demonstrates how children can make a meaningful contribution to school life. Their work not only strengthens our safeguarding culture but also empowers pupils to become active citizens who understand the importance of keeping themselves and others safe.
