Primary Languages – French

In Foundation and Years 1 and 2, children are introduced to French through fun, engaging activities. They learn simple greetings, such as bonjour (hello) and au revoir (goodbye), answer the register in French and practise counting from 1 to 10. These early experiences build familiarity with the language and prepare children for their language learning in Key Stage 2.

From Year 3 to Year 6, French is taught regularly using the Language Angels scheme. Children study three units each year, with one unit taught each term. Through these units, they develop their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, building their confidence in understanding and using French in a range of contexts.

European Day of Languages - every year in September we celebrate this. Learning all about new countries, their language and traditions, along with tasting food.
