The children have been studying their new text 'The Long Walk.' This is an emotional short story about a young boy and his grandad. Due to the setting (in Yorkshire) and the time period, the children have identified lots of new vocabulary - ask the children what a trackless means.
As the story is set near a canal, we were fortunate to take the children on a enriched learning experience to Stenson Canal on Wednesday 18th September. It was very useful for the children to explore the setting and understand their new vocabulary (barge, basin, lock). Some of the children were very lucky to open and close the locks (it was very heavy!).
