A warm welcome back to the 2019-20 academic school year.
Welcome to Class 6R's school page. This is my fifth year at Redwood Primary School and I am excited for the forthcoming year ahead and to help every child on their road to success.
On this page, you will find out all the latest information to do with the current school term.
We also use Class Dojo to reward children with their achievements linking with our SHINE motto. Please let me know if you need a Class Dojo login to access your child's page so that you are informed about the latest news and their progress.
If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to come and visit me before or after school.
P.E. is every Thursday afternoon. Please make sure that children have the correct P.E kit (White t-shirt and black shorts) otherwise they will be given a uniform report. ALL jewellery must be removed for safety reasons. However, any jewellery worn for religious reasons e.g. bangles, must be covered with a sweat band.
We have now changed PE to a one hour lesson a week meaning that indoor and outdoor lessons will be covered in six week patterns. We are currently doing our outdoor lessons first (due to the weather changes nearer winter), which will be basketball. Children are currently learning a lot of vocabulary and skills to upskill their knowledge in basektball.
Homework is handed out on a Friday and is due back the following Wednesday. Children are to complete return their homework in their appropriate homework folders. The Maths folder is blue and the English folder is yellow.
Children receive one Class Dojo for every piece that is handed in on time (so keep this up).
English homework often focuses on grammar and related to the objectives that we have learnt in the week.
Maths homework often focuses on the objectives covered in the week to recap their learning. This will help me to understand every pupils' understanding and how I can give further support.
If your child is struggling with a piece of homework, I am more than happy to go through this with them during break or lunch time.
Reading is a fundamental skill, like writing, which will help children with their future. We currently do 30 minutes of Guided Reading a day. However, it is vital that children read at home. Every time a child reads at home and has their record signed, they receive 5 dojos.
